He competed against David Mitchell (Ludwig), Diego Vasquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude), and Spanish actor Oriol Pla for Yo, adicto (I, Addict). Pla won the award, leaving Diljit just short of an International Emmy win on his first nomination. Despite the loss, the film remained a proud moment for the Indian team. Diljit, director Imtiaz Ali, Netflix India Vice President of Content Monika Shergill, and Director of Original Films Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh represented the project at the event and cheered on the global winners. For many fans and industry watchers, the nomination itself was seen as a big milestone for Indian storytelling at the international level.
